Courses in Cefalu on the north coast of Sicily.

Culturforum has been offering Italian Language and Culture Courses since the year 2000. Quality teaching in a friendly, informal, and stimulating atmosphere, professionalism combined with personal attention and flexibility, courses in small groups tailored according to the needs of the participants are basic principles at Culturforum.
Our students, many of whom decide to return to our school, are able, thanks to our teaching method, to learn good Italian in a relaxing environment so that they can cope well with any practical situation and converse with ease on many different subjects.
Our main aim is to ensure that our students are satisfied and make the best possible progress in the Italian language.
Our Italian Language school provides a carefully organized programme of seminars, guided visits and cultural and leisure activities to help students understand Italy, past and present, and discover in particular the culture, history, traditions, food, nature and secret fascination of Sicily.
Culturforum Italian Language School is located in an historic 16th century building in Cefalù, one of the pearls of the Mediterranean, a lively medieval seaside town on the northern coast of Sicily. The sun, the clear sea, the unspoilt natural environment and the warm hospitality of the people make Cefalu the ideal place to combine learning Italian with a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean, is the southernmost region of Italy.
With its strong and fascinating contrasts, the variety of its natural scenery and its wild beauty Sicily has always enchanted visitors. Many have coveted it, many have conquered it, and all those who have settled the island have left something behind, resulting in a brilliant mixture of traditions and cultures and a unique heritage of superb monuments, buildings and works of art which still today inspire wonder and admiration. To visit Sicily today is to relive 4000 years of history.

At Culturforum you will meet friendly professionals, always willing and ready to help you learn Italian and discover the culture and hidden charms of our beautiful land.
What we set our heart on is to make your stay in Cefalù and in Italy a unique and memorable experience.

To learn Italian at Culturforum is first of all an enjoyable and stimulating experience. In our language courses, either a course in a group or individual tuition, learning duo or Italian for special purposes, we always try to combine professionalism with liveliness, method with lightness of touch, efficacy with flexibility so that everyone can feel at ease and leave behind the stress that the learning of a foreign language sometimes involves.
We aim to bring you to learn the real spoken language, that spoken by Italians in everyday life and above all to finally speak and communicate in Italian fluently and with self-confidence.
Courses are open to all ages, from young to less young people. Whatever your age is, our teachers will make you feel at ease and will find the most suitable method to obtain the best results.
If you are a professional and need the Italian language for your professional life our well experienced and qualified teachers will analyse your specific needs and define the most suitable programme to achieve effective communication skills in the shortest possible time.
The school is open throughout the year and it is possible to start a new course on every Monday except absolute beginner courses (please refer to Starting Dates).
Email, internet and fax facilities are available at the school for students' use. The school has wireless internet, so you can also use your own laptop computers to get online.

Courses:

Our courses of Italian focus on the learner and the knowledge and language skills previouly acquired. What we aim at is that students attending our Italian courses should learn to express themselves correctly and effectively and be able to interact with Italians in every type of communication and cultural context.
Our main concern is the students' satisfaction and their maximum progress. This is why we have chosen a flexible class design which enables us to meet more effectively the needs and requirements of the diverse groups and of the individual in a group.
The small class size (4/5 students on average, and a maximum of 8) allows the teacher to monitor participants with particular care, and guarantees each student individual attention and an active participation in the learning process.
The first day of the course at Culturforum students are first welcomed by the director and soon afterwards take a preliminary test (a written grammar test and an interview) to identify their general knowledge and the specific area of language they need to improve and determine the appropriate level of their Italian course.
Classes are held in the mornings from Monday to Friday. The afternoons are free for students to take part in excursions and free time activities organised by our language school, socialise or enjoy the wonderful beach.
Preparation for the university exams in Italian as a foreign language ( CILS; CELI) is also available.
At the end of the course students receive a Certificate of Attendance.
Each one-hour lesson runs for 60 minutes.
NB: in groups with fewer than five students the hours are reduced to 15hrs a week; with one student per class they are reduced to 10hrs a week

Accommodation:

Cefalù is the most celebrated seaside resort on the northern coast of Sicily, a favourite destination for tourists and Italians alike. Endowed with excellent tourist facilities, it’s the ideal spot for passing a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. The town offers different types of accommodation: you can choose to live in apartments in the old town centre or experience a home stay sharing your time with friendly Sicilian people or spend your holiday in comfortable hotels by the sea .

Location

Where we are:

The Italian language school culturforum is located on the first floor (the so-called “piano nobile” the reception suite) of a historic building in Cefalu's main street, the Corso Ruggero, close to the “Piazza Duomo” (Cathedral Square) in the very heart of the medieval town, where the most attractive cafés, bars, pubs, restaurants, and shops are to be found.

Sports and attractions:

And if you are sporty type you can practise your favourite sport or even take up a new one in Cefalù. We can help you arrange the following sporting activities: tennis, basketball, yoga, scuba diving, horse-back riding, cycling and mountain biking.

Learning a language should not be confined to time spent at school: we worked out a lively and varied social programme offering a range of activities and excursions that will allow you to discover the soul of Sicily and give you a real understanding of our people and country.

The excursions offered will take you off the beaten track, to allow you to admire the artistic treasures and the imposing monuments yet showing you also the controversial aspects less accessible to tourists, along with the wild natural sceneries of the island.
Cefalù is located right in the middle of the northern coast of Sicily. It is, therefore, an ideal departure point for those who, as well as attending an Italian course, would like to visit the most famous sites on the island eg. Etna, Taormina, Agrigento, the Eolian islands.
