A bridge between Europe and Africa - this is Sicily, the largest and most diverse island in the Mediterranean. Nature and art have been gathered together into a masterpiece and it's easy to sing a hymn to the natural beauty with its rugged coastlines, romantic beaches, cliffs and reefs, and lush Mediterranean vegetation, the rich cultural heritage of the Greeks, Romans and Arabs and a lovely hospitable people. Already at the first meeting with Sicily one finds that these islands and their residents, unlike the rest of Italy, especially colorful and distinctive lettering of the Arab customs and gastronomy.

The medieval town of Cefalù, with roots in the 5th Century to decline, was built on a promontory, which is dominated by an overhanging cliff. Characteristic of Cefalù, the long sandy beaches, old houses, which overlook the sea, and the Cathedral of Norman origins, built by Roger II, to fulfill a vow.

Not far from Cefalu, just on the other, the eastern side of the Rocca, is one of the most beautiful bays on the northern coast of Sicily - "La Caldura or Calura", as it is here locally called. The exact origin of the word is unclear, although every indication is that the name derives from the Greek "Kalos (= beautiful), kallos (beauty) and" oreuo "(refuge, shelter), that is" beautiful refuge ". The name but could also be derived from the Latin word "calidum" (= heat).

Others, however, tend to seek the origin of the word in Arabic "Calhur" to what would mean brilliant eastern beach.
