Location

Agriculture, fishing and tourism are the major economic activities. The place has expanses of mangrove forests, paddy fields and coconut groves. This rich  agricultural environment is mainly  irrigated using interspersed waterways  and canals of the Meenachil river.  Kumarakom's perfectly balanced tropical climate is conductive to cultivation.  Kumarakom has a wide variety of houseboats

Take breathtaking motor boat cruise through the Palm fringed backwater canals. Motor boats and speed boats are available for hire at cheaper rates. You can do fishing using hooks or nets, rowing in country rafts, swimming or water skating in lake, etc. Boats will pick the tourist parties from or drop them at Ernakulam, Thanneermukkom, Vechoor, Pathiramanal, Kumarakom, Kottayam, Alleppey, R-block, Kollam, etc.
Motor boats can be hired per hour/per day. The serene enjoyable boat trip takes one to Kumarakom Bird Sanctury, Pathiramanal, Thannermukkom saline water barrier, Vechoor kayal, R-block or to anywhere in and around the lake Vembanad.
